In Canada, there have been discussions about whether cigarette smoking should remain legal, with some calling for a ban on the grounds of public health. However, despite the many arguments for prohibiting cigarette smoking, there are compelling reasons why it should remain legal. Cigarettes keeping should be legal and personal freedom and should not restrain people from their choices. Individuals have the right to decide for themselves whether to smoke cigarettes or not, just as they have the right to make decisions about what they eat or how they choose to spend their leisure time.
